What’s the Emergency Button for?

Emergencies don't happen very often. But if you ever have one, your Firefly phone can call Emergency Services right away.

If you have an Original Firefly phone or the glowPhone, there's an Emergency Button on the right hand side of the phone, so kids can always get help if they need it, anytime or anywhere. As long as the Firefly phone is in range of its wireless network, the Emergency Button will work, even if your Firefly phone is out of minutes.

We recommend that parents discuss what kids should do in a situation that might call for emergency assistance, and talk over scenarios that constitute an emergency. We hope you'll never have to use this phone feature, but it's always good to be prepared, just in case.

When you press and hold the Emergency Button, either “Emergency Call” or “Call 112?” may appear on the Display Panel.   The telephone number 112 is the international emergency telephone number for GSM mobile phone networks.   In the United States, dialing 112 on a mobile phone is the same as dialing 911.

NOTE:  The flyPhone does not have a separate Emergency Button. Since the flyPhone is capable of independent dialing, the user should dial 911 to get in touch with local Emergency Services.
