What's the deal with the lights?

For the Original Firefly Phone:

One of the coolest things about the Firefly phone is its Firefly Fireworks™ light displays. Here's what happens:

  • The phone lights up every 5-10 minutes when it's turned on and whenever the Fireworks button (between the volume buttons on the left side of the phone) is pressed. The lights go off after 15 seconds and when your Firefly phone is turned off.
  • The background color on the display panel changes during the Fireworks display (but will always be red when the emergency call button is pressed).
  • The lights on the call keys glow when you press them and when you receive a call.
  • The "tail lights" flash when the phone's battery is charging and every few minutes when it's on.

For the glowPhone and flyPhone:

glowPhone:  When the glowPhone is turned on, the keypad area will light up and "glow", while it is registering on the network.  Once the network is found, the lights will shut off and the glowPhone will go to "sleep" in order to conserve battery power. To awaken the glowPhone, simply press the navigation arrows, or the center "selection" key.

flyPhone: When the flyPhone is turned on, the keypad will light up, in the "phone" mode. Shortly after the network is found, the display screen and keypad will shut off and the flyPhone will go to "sleep" to conserve battery power. To awaken the flyPhone, simply press anywhere in the darkened keypad area, and the flyPhone will light up.
